Notable nomenclature noticed; Corporate Cup team name finalists announced

Spokane, WA—Bloomsday ’08 is still over three weeks away, but competition among Corporate Cup teams has already proven to be fierce , at least in the “Best Team Name” contest. A panel of Bloomsday organizers and sponsor representatives recently met and selected twenty-one finalists for “Best Team Name.”

 

This year’s list (see below) ranges from ALSC Architect’s “Running Our Buttresses Off” to Surgical Specialists of Spokane’s “Bladerunners.” The final selection of the first, second and third-best names will be announced in the Bloomsday Souvenir Results Booklet distributed by The Inlander on Tuesday after the run.

 

“Clearly, Corporate Cup entrants are putting a lot of thought into their team names,” said Corporate Cup Chair Carol Hunter. “Every year it gets harder and harder to select the teams that have done the best job of combining foot-racing with the type of work the company does.”

 

Last year the panel selected Columbia Paint’s “Shakin’ Our Cans” as their favorite team name, with second place going to Michael R. Bell and Company’s “Decreasing Our Bottom Line,” and Gonzaga University English Department’s “Suppersonnets” capturing third.

 

Corporate Cup competition is closed for 2008, but for other runners, joggers and walkers, Bloomsday registration is open for mailed entries until Tuesday, April 15. Online registration is available for the $15.00 fee until Sunday, April 20th After that, the registration fee increases to $30.00, either online (April 21-27) or at the Convention Center on Bloomsday weekend.
