BLOOMSDAY '14 ONLINE REGISTRATION IS OPEN!

Thursday, January 2, 2014

January 2, 2014—There are just over four months until the 38th annual Lilac Bloomsday Run, and to help fortify New Year’s resolutions to get in shape, early bird registration for Bloomsday is now open. Those who sign up by February 9th will have a chance to win a 32 gb Microsoft Surface 2.

“It is time to think spring, rebirth and health,” says Lilac Bloomsday Association President Steven Jones. “Use your early Bloomsday registration to cement your commitment to a fitter you in 2014. Sign up now to join 50,000 friends and neighbors in our annual moving celebration of life and community. Of course, winning a Microsoft Surface 2 would be pretty cool too.”

Everyone who enters Bloomsday online through February 9th will be automatically entered in the Surface 2 drawing. The Surface 2 is a thin, light tablet with up to 10-hour battery life. It runs Windows RT 8.1 and comes preinstalled with Microsoft Office 2013 RT, so users get Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote—right out of the box. Surface 2 ups the ante with a more powerful, always-on processor, so it's ready to go when it’s needed.

Those signing up for Bloomsday will also have the opportunity to add a donation to the NortheastCommunity Center, which has been selected as Bloomsday’s official charity for 2014. The NortheastCommunity Center focuses on health, education, economic development, social issues, and recreation. The support Bloomsday participants provide will help families throughout Spokane—especially those in the Northeast neighborhoods—become and remain self-sufficient.

“Bloomsday welcomes the NortheastCommunity Center as our official charity in 2014,” says Jones. “The work the Center does with a limited budget to make that part of Spokane a better place is truly remarkable. We hope that Bloomsday entrants will recognize the importance of the NortheastCommunity Center to families and youth by providing a donation with their entries.”

Bloomsday ’14 will be Sunday, May 4, 2014. Full details of the 38th annual event will be released in early March, at which time printed entry forms will be available at locations throughout the Inland Northwest.
